Message from the Principal
There are a number of guiding principles which influence programs at Hornsby Heights. Each student who comes through the school gates is unique with different needs and abilities, preferred way of learning and a personal way of making sense of the world.
We believe that children learn best when they feel safe yet challenged to extend their thinking and abilities. That children learn through play, through open communication, through collaboration and by seeking solutions to real life problems.
We believe that the values held by the school community deeply influence its students. Children need to value themselves and to respect others. It is important that they learn to value learning.
Children need love and acceptance, they also need to know where the limits are.
Children need to thrive on high expectations.
Most importantly children need time to be children. They should not be hurried. We should not try to fill their every waking minute and rob them of their right to live as children.
