Library
The school library is a child friendly learning environment
supportive of students' learning and recreational reading needs. All students undertake a weekly library lesson focusing on information literacy skills and literature appreciation. The library is well resourced. The students are encouraged to become independent learners utilizing skills in using information from print and electronic resources. Students must agree to an acceptable use policy for the internet and are encouraged to become responsible internet users.
Students are encouraged to borrow from the library and participate in special reading activities such as NSW Premier's Reading Challenge, MS Readathon, Children's Book Week, KOALA (Kids Own Literature Awards) and the Hornsby Heights Reading Challenge. Every year we have special Book Week performances for the whole school where a visiting author, illustrator, storyteller or performer provides a new insight into the world of children's literature.
